Cut Size: Before Fabrication

The cut size represents the dimensions of the tarpaulin before any fabrication or manufacturing processes has taken place. This is essentially the starting point, if the finished size is intended to be 100 cm x 150 cm, the cut size will be larger, to incorporate the width of the hem and seams. The hem, typically being 5 cm in width.

Finished Size: Dimension After Fabrication

The finished size represents the dimensions of the tarpaulin once hemmed and completed. This is the size that the end-user will ultimately receive.

Unlike the cut size, the finished size will be smaller. This reduction is a result of the fabric being folded around pp rope and welded to create the hems. The finished length will typically be approx. 10 cm less the cut length in both the length and width.

We try to make it easy; all our tarps are listed by finished size, but if you are shopping around, it is worth keeping in mind, if a tarp is being sold with cut size measurements, then expect the finished product to be a little smaller than listed, and some sellers may not detail which measurement is being used so, if size is crucial it would be best to check.
